Meet Our NoToDogMeat Marathon Team Heroes 2021

On Sunday, October 3rd our brave team of Marathon runners will #Run4TheDogs

We are running this year in order to expand our education programme in Asia and change hearts and minds of the youth

Our team will run/jog/walk the 26 miles/40 km in USA/Australia/Cambodia/China/Singapore and the UK.

Chantha

At our new base in Cambodia, Chantha Mao, a school teacher and animal activist will be running with his class of 20 school students.

Ashish

Ashish spent the first part of the year in India’s lockdown, during the worst of the covid crisis there He is running in memory of his dog Max who passed away last year.

Ashish says, “I am running the London Marathon on 3rd October and am in daily training to this end.

“I feel so grateful that my family survived and being stuck inside for so long made me even more motivated to get out and run the marathon.

“I am running to raise much needed funds for the valuable work of charitable non-profit Notodogmeat (World Protection for Dogs and Cats in the Meat Trade).

As well as maintaining a shelter for 500 dogs and cats in China Notodogmeat tirelessly campaigns to put a permanent end to the terrible cruelty. Please donate and sponsor me in this challenge.”

Soraya

NoToDogMeat supporter Soraya who rescued her own cat Fluffy ten years ago when he came to her as a stray, will get up early on the day of the marathon, and complete laps of Royal Caribbean’s Celebrity Silhouette liner, which will be sailing towards Lisbon, Portugal.

“This year I will be running my first marathon as part of the NoToDogMeat London Marathon team. I am running with a difference. On a cruise ship!”

“As a massive animal lover I really want to do my bit to help end the cruel dog and cat meat trade.

“NoToDogMeat has been campaigning for over 10 years and runs a sanctuary in China with over 500 rescues needing our help and homes.

“All donations go towards their care.”

Jo says, “I am taking part in the Virtual London Marathon on 3rd of October 2021. I am fundraising for this great charity which is doing all it can to save dogs and cats from the meat trade.

Brigit

Welsh-born Brigit is more used to painting than running but she is ready to do her bit even it means walking part of the course.

Her two rescues Snarfy and Squeaky will accompany her on part of the course.

Brigit says, “I am running in the Virtual London Marathon to raise funds for the work of Charity/Non-Profit Notodogmeat in its rescue work and campaign to end the dog meat trade.

“This is very important work rescuing animals from immense cruelty and suffering and trying to bring about an end to this terrible thing.”

Richard

Richard is from Leyton, East London and will run the virtual London Marathon through Epping Forest to High Beech to raise funds for NoToDogMeat.

Richard was employed by the Corporation of London some years ago to produce maps of the Epping Forest area he is planning to run through.

He said: ” few years ago, I adopted an amazing dog from NoToDogMeat and decided to help their plight.

“A keen sportsman in my youth, I plan to run as much as I can from London to Essex and am determined to finish the race even if it means walking. I am hoping a couple of people might join me on the route.  It might take half a day but could make a difference to dogs like Oliver who need our help.”

Joanne

Fun loving young Mum Joanne W.  Has been training hard for the last few months and is ready for the big day. She will run part of the race on her treadmill and the rest along the banks of the River Thames in London. Jo has already raised close to £500. Please do continue to support her. Denis & his wife Li Qi

An engineer who last year became the first person ever to run the London Marathon in China is set to take on the challenge again, but this time with his wife.

Denis Gierczak and Li Qi, who live in Shanghai will run around Er Hai lake just outside of Dali China where they have taken the autumn break vacation and the map shows the route Denis and Li will take.

It is hot and the route is 2000m above sea level but they will support each other and #Run4TheDogs.

They recently adopted a lovely puppy called Bella who is a therapy dog.

Summer Lee

Shanghai resident Summer Lee will run 26.2 miles around the lake near where she lives.  Her beloved rescue dogs will join her part of the way.

Summer volunteers at local animal rescue centres and is happy to be raising funds for our own rescue base in China and work to end the dog and cat meat trade.

Janice North

Vegetarian Janice has been a massive animal lover all her life.

She used to work for the London Metro and was a massive help to the charity getting it adverts for like-minded volunteers.

She plans to run round her local park near Wembley and says she will not be put off even if it rains.

Aleah says, “I have been supporting NoToDogMeat charity for the last 8 years raising awareness of the cruel way dogs and cats are treated in Asia through my work in Fashion and as a Magazine editor.

Mayank says, “I recently met a lovely Samoyed rescued from the cruel dog meat trade in China and got to know the charity NoToDogMeat and their work.

“I am running with a difference in hotel quarantine in Singapore. It won’t be easy but then rescue is not easy.

“I lost my beloved dog Bingo and our family dog Joy in the last year and I am running in their memory”.
