Adoption FAQs

Here are some of our dogs and cats available to be sponsored or adopted:

Josette was rescued from a horrific dog meat market last October.

Marco Polo

Nicolette

Along with Josette, our beautiful heroine Nicolette was rescued from the dog meat market.

Nicolette is also a pure bred Samoyed and almost probably a stolen pet.

Shown here with her besties Victor and Vincent, she loves nothing better than to cause mischief in the shelter.

Nicolette is a loving, carefree girl who loves to play with her fellow pals.

Pepper

Pepper is an adorable ‘porky’ Chihuahua mix. Black dogs are often rejected in China because they are considered bad luck and this little girl was thrown into the garbage bin as a tiny puppy outside a slaughterhouse.

Like many of the dogs we rescue, these loving sentient beings are treated like garbage.

She was really shy at first and the only way to gain her trust was with treats.

We need her to run and lose weight and be healthy and your donation helps us rebuild our exercise yard destroyed in the flooding.

Fudge

This gorgeous girl was rescued from a dog meat market.

Often, pure-bred dogs like Fudge are believed to be stolen pets.

Sometimes, dogs like these, abandoned by their owners or for whatever reason, are destined to be slaughtered and eaten.

Please help us save more dogs like Fudge from this terrible plight.

Stella

Stella was rescued along with Felicity and Delphi from a brutal slaughterhouse a few years ago.

We believe Stella is part German Shepherd.

Stella has been in the shelter a good few years now.

She used to play with the other dogs but is now slowing down.

Like most of our older dogs, Stella is often overlooked with adopters preferring a younger, smaller dog.

Stella is still looking for her forever home and is very loyal and loving.

Vincent

Vincent was found alongside his brother Victor, in a brutal slaughterhouse.

All of the dogs rescued from the slaughterhouse were in a terrible state.

We think both Vincent and Victor are around six years old and are thought to be standard poodles.

Just like his brother, he is also very handsome.

Both boys are mischievous and adore playing with the other dogs in the shelter.

Caroline

This adorable girl was found packed tightly into a truck along with dozens of other dogs on the way to the Yulin Dog Meat Festival.

Often, these trucks have been in transit for hours, sometimes days.

Dogs cannot move and are not given food or water in sweltering heat.

Caroline was one of the lucky ones.

She is a Golden Retriever with the sweetest nature, truly a special girl.

Duole

Little Duole (Dollar) is partly blind and struggles to hear, and is also disabled.

When we rescued him he was caked in mud lying in his own poop. His journey to recovery has been slow and involved, mainly painful operations to fix a hernia and to fix internal injuries.

We bought him a special wheelchair that was adapted for his needs and it changed his life. He can now (with help) play with new friends and explore a little.

He will never run a marathon but dogs like Duole deserves a chance.

Thomas

Thomas was found crammed in a truck in a village not far away from one of our shelters.

Thomas had suffered a terrible injury to his mouth as he fought the butcher’s tooth and nail for his life.

This little boy is a plucky, courageous young man.

He is full of hope and looking for his forever home to give him the love he deserves.

Victor

Victor was found in a slaughterhouse along with his brother Vincent.

All of the dogs rescued from the slaughterhouse were in a terrible state.

We think Victor is around 6 years old and is thought to be a standard poodle.

He is such a handsome boy with a playful, high-energy nature.

He would definitely have a go at running the marathon himself.

Poseidon

Poseidon is a rare white Tibetan mastiff.

Mastiffs used to be highly prized in China until the fashion changed then they were left to starve or be sold to the slaughterhouse.

Many became fearful of humans.

When we rescued Poseidon in 2018, he would not let anyone near him.

It took nearly two years for him to gain our trust.

Now he is ageing and his back legs are weak but he is a magnificent giant and he deserves love and care in his old age.

Clara

Clara was found in a cage without food or water behind a restaurant by our shelter manager Anna. Anna pleaded with the owners to release her from being eaten. A determined Anna finally persuaded them and Clara was freed.

Clara was diagnosed with a brain tumour and her kidneys began to fail. She has the best care we can offer from surgery to blood transfusions.

We will always give our rescues the very best care we can. Please help us help them.

Zebedee

This lucky boy is a real miracle. He was rescued from an abandoned factory where locals had been catching dogs and boiling puppies.

When we rescued him, he could not move at all, not even stretch out his legs.He had the constant shakes and we did not think he would make it.

He is now about 18 months. The wheelchair changed his life. But more than that a few months ago, Zebedee succeeded to stand up alone for a few minutes. Fiercely independent and a very brave handsome boy.

Douglas

This sweet little boy about two years old was rescued from a truck heading to Dongbei, a slaughterhouse in northern China.

He was nervous at first to walk on the lead but he is very trusting.

He craves human company but like so many dogs in our shelter, he often gets overlooked for the more outgoing rescues when visitors arrive.

Please help us help these sweet little souls.

Rolf

This poor little boy was about 3 years old when he was rescued from the back of a dog meat restaurant. He had been chained up by his legs and nose.

He had suffered multiple injuries but is healing well. He still has ongoing skin and eye issues but is responding well to medication.

Rolf is still very afraid and nervous and mostly too frightened to leave his kennel.

With our love and care, he is slowly gaining confidence.

Milly

Milly was rescued from a brutal dog meat market in Beijing. She was so excited to get back to the shelter.

She was so eager to come out of her kennel and walked like a queen the first time we put her on a leash.

Milly is around two years old her heart is so full of love and forgiveness.

She adores cuddles and loves to play with the other dogs.

Our Cats

Our campaign and rescue work extends to Cambodia where we support grassroots activists who share our vision of change. Tet Lin, our amazing carer, works tirelessly to look after over 50 rescued cats.

We work to spay, neuter and give nutritious food to our cats in our Phnom Penh shelter which have all been saved from terrible cruelty.

In so many Asian countries, cats are brutalised and turned into soups and potions. Our mission is to change that.

Every Other Soul

With your help, we can continue to save more lives, pay for medical treatments, feed and care for those in our shelters.
